The Effect of Defatted Korean Ginseng on the Serum Components Level of Rat by Alternating the Diet And Effect of Defatted Korean Ginseng on Lipolytic action of Toxohormone-L from Cancerous Ascites Fluid
Lee Sung-Dong

Abstract
This study was divised to observe the effect of defatted white ginseng on the serum components of Sprague-Dawley Albino male rats by alternating the diet and the effect of defatted red ginseng on lipolytic action of Toxohormone-L from cancerous ascites fluid.
Firstly, just weaned rats(weighing : 83¡¾4g) were fed with each stock diets supplemented with 0.5 %, 1.0 % and 3.0 % defatted white ginseng powder for 4 weeks or 8 weeks, and after that fed with stock diet only for 8 or 4 weeks, respectively. Compared with the each corresponding group which was fed with defatted white ginseng control diet. The total protein and total lipid in serum were decreased(P<0.05¡0.01) caused by fed 1.0 and 3.0 % defatted white ginseng diet for 4 weeks and after that fed with stock diet only for 4 weeks, conversely¢¥ had a tendency to increase (¡P < 0.001) caused by fed 1.0 and 3.0 % defatted white ginseng diet for 4 or 8 week and after that fed with stock diet for 8 or 4 weeks, respectively.
Secondarily, Toxohormone-L has been known as lipolytic and anorexigenic factors. Toxohormone-L was obtained by partial purification of the ascites fluid from mice which had been inoculated with sarcoma-180. The yields of crude acidic polysaccharide from Korean red ginseng were 63.5 %. In vitro, at the concentration of 100 and 500 §¶/§¢, the inhibition rate of lipolysis by the crude acidic polysaccharide were 25.5 and 38.8 % respectively, and the total inhibitory activity per gram of ginseng material were 16,193 and 4,928 unit respectively.
